We are discussing in class the similarities and differences between the value systems of the native Americans and the European immigrants. Your assignment is to visually model these similarities and differences. As you plan your model, keep these things in mind:
Models are due in class TO BE PRESENTED TO THE CLASS on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 3 (remember we agreed to have lunch together that day so we can finish). If you are out that day for any reason, please contact me ASAP to make arrangements for your presentation.
- You should start with more than one possible idea for a model. EVALUATE your ideas and choose the one that will BEST represent your information and opinions.
- Specific examples from text and from life are essential to make your points. Evidence is critical to a successful completion of your model. Identify specific examples you can use to illustrate the ideas in your model; then, EVALUATE your examples and choose the ones that BEST illustrate your ideas.
- Remember your critical thinking skills as you work. You need FACTS (your examples); you should show your UNDERSTANDING of those facts (what does the text or the event mean?); APPLY your understanding to summarize your information into big ideas; ANALYZE your information by showing the relationships among these ideas; CREATE a model that is interesting, dynamic and relevant.
