Today in class we worked on papers and had some individual conferences. Final drafts are due FRIDAY! You still need to do a conference with me by March 12--even if it's in the evening. No conferences Thursday or Friday.
In class Wednesday we will be discussing the research process. I need from you a clear and thoughtful discussion of the following:
Class Wednesday will be in my room as usual--Maria has found a projector we can use.
Also, check the VOICES OF WOMEN page. At the bottom, I have posted a checklist that you can use to check your draft. It's questions and things to think about as you finalize your paper, broken down by the elements of the main standard.
Also posted is the rubric I will be using to grade your paper. You MUST grade your own paper using the rubric and attach it to the final copy of your paper or send it to me in a separate email. You can do that by simply giving me the areas (focus/controlling idea, organization, development, conventions) and your score with each. If you want to go into more detail, you can write the area and copy/paste the sentences that apply to your paper from each column--you won't necessarily fit into a numbered column that way, but may have statements from across the columns. If you do this BEFORE you're finished, you can use this as an editing guide to improve the paper before it's handed in.
I will post directions tomorrow for submitting the final papers. Remember, they are due FRIDAY!!!
In class Wednesday we will be discussing the research process. I need from you a clear and thoughtful discussion of the following:
- What current skills did you use?
- What knowledge EXPANDED in your current skills?
- What NEW skills did you gain from this experience? How solid are those skills? (How much reinforcement do you need to consider this skill part of your writing "tool kit"?)
- What skills have you found you need to gain or reinforce?
