Today in class we discussed the two Dickinson poems listed in the unit outline. By Monday, you should read the essay that is listed with those poems and be prepared to discuss whether or not you believe the author's argument is valid. Remember you must give evidence to support your evaluation. Question #4 under EXAMPLE WRITING PROMPTS will give you guidance in preparing for this discussion.
Also, remember that Monday your infographics are due. Please send those to me electronically---I intend to post them on this website so we can view them in class and discuss them.
Your Melting Pot essays are due Friday. I have given you work time Thursday and Friday and remember you can sign up for as many conferences as you need before the essay is due. This should be your new "best essay ever" so put in the effort and push to make this one great! We've gone for quality over quantity, so I'm expecting your best efforts. Don't skimp on evidence! You should have 3-4 pieces of evidence to support every idea you present.
Remember to keep your reading journal on your novels. Monday we should discuss where you are--I'm hoping you'll be finished with the novels by then. We'll be doing the short readings next week and we'll begin your first research paper, which will be due when we return from Feb vacation. You should be thinking about who you'd like to use as your research subject. Email or call and I'll help you choose.
