Word for the day: nonuplets
In class today we discussed ways to research and different techniques and hints to expand research skills. Among other hints, I strongly suggested using various search engines and scrolling past the first page of results. I have asked Maria to come to class to give more information on using the resources available here to do research. Also, I encourage you to use the Google tutorial available on Google advanced search. Using various tips and techniques explained in the tutorial will make your research faster and more focused.
You should have 10-15 sources for your final product (that's 10-15 that you actually used, either for initial information or for verification). You MUST include primary source documents (at least 2) and you MUST include sources that have your chosen woman's voice (again, at least 2). The voice documents should, if possible, reflect both the public and the private voices of this woman. Don't forget that part of your paper should address whether or not, and how, this woman's voice echoes in our society today.
I will accept pre-writing through Wednesday. It was due today, so anyone who hands it in today gets extra credit. NO CREDIT AFTER WEDNESDAY.
I am checking for your reading journals which were due Friday. I will email if I cannot find it.
Due by Wednesday:
Due by Friday:
Draft #1 of research paper. Please label it WOMEN'S VOICES. A link to a googledoc is fine.
Below is your ADJUSTED deadlines schedule for your paper. Please put these deadlines in your calendar---I have and will be holding you to these deadlines.
Research completed: Feb 9 (obviously, we didn't make this one, but I want you to work on research skills) New deadline: Feb 21
Prewriting conferences: Feb 17-21 (Prewriting is due Feb 19)
Draft 1 conferences: Feb 24-March 7 (I will be available during February vacation. Draft 1 due March 7)
Draft 2 conferences: March 10-14 (Draft 2 due March 12)
Final due: March 19
Remember that I will be available the entire February vacation for conferences. Use this time wisely, especially if you're having trouble. When we return after vacation, we will be pushing to finish this paper and move to the next unit, so you won't have as much time as you've had for past papers to work. You will need to be ready to move this to a second and then a final draft. We will finish these papers by March 19.
